My Thunderstorm poem Posted Sunday, August 28, 2011 08:58 AM Never so green as before a storm had grass appeared to me Nor turned so eerie hills afar and all that I could see. The leaves upturned upon their branches tho' hiding from the sight as skies of blue for summer's day hazed into but a night. Black clouds surrounded white ones until they disappeared and distant rumbles shook the ground; a sound the song birds feared. Turned in were petals of the flowers I had just admired and limp had gone the breezy willows; as if they'd fallen tired. No never had I seen so much of sunny life dismiss; and tuck itself away so fast because of one storm' kiss. Twas then I chilled and covered up like the leaf and willow and flower; for only then had I been shown the base of nature's power. |
