RE: Favorite movies Posted Friday, July 15, 2011 08:57 AM The Red Violin starring Samuel Jackson..one of my favorites. The Wizard of Oz — takes me back to my childhood, at least now that I am older I don't have to cover my eyes when they show the Wicked Witch and her flying monkeys LOL! I always thought that the movie was only black and white...it wasn't until I was around 11, that I discovered that the Yellow Brick Road was actually yellow in the movie! |

RE: Favorite movies Posted Friday, July 15, 2011 11:53 AM Good Will Hunting is one of my favorite films in recent years. Whenever I see it playing, I get sucked in and have to finish watching till the conclusion. It also gives an interesting look at the city of Boston... from Harvard Square to South Boston.
Also in the mix of "Must Watch When Seen on TV"
The Big Lebowski Harold & Maude Caddy Shack Animal House Arsenic and Old Lace Avatar Serenity Say Anything Casablanca The African Queen The Big Chill It's a Wonderful Life Mr Smith Goes To Washington King of Hearts The Matrix Office Space Slaughter House 5 Donnie Darko Annie Hall The Graduate Stalag 17 A Hard Days Night Network
Men In Film from Philip Scott Johnson on Vimeo. |

RE: Favorite movies Posted Friday, July 15, 2011 01:03 PM I've always been all about the music so it's not a surprise that I'm a sucker for musicals. Here are my all time faves - South Pacific - Just a classic! Pretty people in pretty places singing pretty songs. SOME ENCHANTED EVENING chokes me up every time. The Phantom of the Opera - It was amazing on stage but almost as good on film! The music sure is! Grease - C'mon, who doesn't like Grease? Really? Men loved Olivia and women wanted to BE her! Sweeney Todd - If only for my love, Johnny Depp but Helena Bonham Carter is wonderful in it too! Burlesque - I can't get enough of this damn movie. My daughter and I want to open our own Burlesque lounge now thanks to Christina & Cher! Aladdin, Jungle Book, Little Mermaid - Everybody has watched those movies at least 5 times each and I bet we all know the words to almost every song! |

The movie that I am most traumatized by is The Wizard of OZ I mean really; flying monkeys, houses flying in th air, witches melting, legs curling up under a house that fell on them........ Parents beware it is a recipe for future therapy bills! ; ) |

For me that would be ~ and my all time fav and the mother of all chick movies ( ladies if you have not seen this then you must) Now, Voyager. Bette Davis - nuff said |

RE: Favorite movies Posted Monday, January 12, 2015 09:05 AM Anyone catch the Golden Globes last night? I'm glad the fillm Boyhood won. That movie really resonated with me. It could be because we dropped our son off at college the day before seeing it. |

RE: Favorite movies Posted Wednesday, January 14, 2015 01:18 PM Based upon your recommendation, Joe and I watched this last night. No offense, but it was really LOOONNNNGGGG! LOL! It was nearly 3 hours. I didn't realize it took years to make the film until I read up on it today though. It was confusing if you didn't know the history of the making of the film I guess. I was disappointed by the end of the movie actually. They just saw there looking at each other, and that was it?? Oh well - thanks for the post! :) |

Favorite movies Posted Saturday, January 17, 2015 10:34 AM Watched Boyhood again last night and loved it even more than the first time! Saw it with my 2 kids. Yes, the film is 3 hours and 11 minutes and took 12 years to film & complete. The director Linklater would get them all together every Summer to film. The actors called it their "Summer Camp". Not only does the aging of the actors support the passage of "real time" but you also get the politics, technology and music as supporting players in marking that time passage. This film, in my opinion, is about life, choices, misconceptions, influences, role models, etc...
The ending is a savory moment in time that is appreciated and treasured! Sometimes the silence of something speaks more than words ever possibly can.
