I'm so glad Debbie has been included here.  She and I were good friends at South Junior High and especially in 9th grade.  I'll never forget this presentation we did for an English? class on Israel in 9th grade... we concluded by doing a dance around the room... a traditional dance, the hora.  We laughed and laughed...it was so much fun and I don't think the teacher or the class knew what to make of us!  Debbie was very smart and we were a bit competitive.  I lost touch with her through the years after she left PHS.  I ran into her while we were both jogging on Williams St. on a visit to Pittsfield in maybe... 1998.  We hugged and had a wonderful "catch up".  I was particularly interested in her work.  When she turned to jog away I remember thinking how healthy and fit she looked and I remember Williams St. was unusually quiet. I wondered if our paths would cross again.  It seemed soon after that my sister told me  of her marriage after 40 (like me) and then motherhood post 40 (also like me).  My heart went out to her family and especially Debbie as I learned of her illness as she was parenting a toddler.  I couldn't imagine that.   She was a terrific person.  I was very sad to hear of her passing.
